beauty products of the year

With so many beauty products on the market, deciding on which ones to purchase can be a tough decision. From hair care to skin care, the average consumer is bombarded with all types of advertisement via TV, radio, the web and print media. Each and every one of them claims to make you look more beautiful, youthful or healthier. While you may walk away from some of the offers because they are just too good to be true, there are others that make you wonder and before you know it, you have bought another product.

I firmly believe that a lot of what we are expecting out of a beauty bottle can be accomplished through good old fashion fitness and nutrition, but I also believe that there is room in your regimen for enhancement products and supplements. In fact if I can be honest, I am a beauty product junkie. I am that girl with 4-5 different bottles of cleansers, moisturizers, vitamins, conditioners and hair balms under the sink. With that being said, I have had my share of disappointment and nothing irritates me more than to purchase a product that fails to deliver on its promise.

But by the same token, I have come across some really good stuff. As a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie, here is a list of my top five favorite beauty products for the month and an explanation of why I just absolutely love them. If you are looking for good products that live up to its word and promote good health, give these products a try. I really don’t think that you will be disappointed.

List of The Top Five Beauty Products of the Year

STASH Premium Chai Green Tea

Let me start by saying this is some good stuff. Not only does it taste good but it is also good for you. Green tea has plenty to boast about. Although studies are conflicting, researchers believe that green tea has super powers such as fighting cancer and heart disease, lowering cholesterol, burning fat, preventing diabetes, and staving off dementia. What is known for sure is that green tea is full of antioxidants called catechins which fight off free radicals. It is also an anti-inflammatory agent that produces a healthy metabolism. As a result of these little known facts, green tea is a beauty favorite because it promotes healthy skin and burn fat.

The chai blend includes spices such as cinnamon, ginger, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and cardamom. Each spice carries its own super powers. For example, cinnamon reduces fatigue. Cardamom stimulates the mind and gives clarity. Cloves and pepper generate heat in the body (burn baby burn). And as for nutmeg and ginger both spices promote healthy digestion.

The way I see it, this is the drink of all drinks. I urge you to try it for yourself. When you sit down to a cup of STASH green chai tea, you just feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It is the best. Prepare it with milk and honey in the morning instead of your regular cup of Joe. You will quickly see why it made the list.

Mary Kay Time Wise Ultimate Miracle Set

This set comes complete with a facial cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen solution (SPF 25), a microderm abrasion set and an eye cream. I have sensitive skin and for your years I have tried countless name brand skin care products that just didn’t work for me. But this set has proven to be the best by far. Mary Kay advertises that the basic set will deliver 11 age defying benefits. It cleanses, exfoliate, freshen, hydrate, smooth, firm, soften, energize and rebuild the skin all while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. I have been using the products for over 6 months now and I have to say it works.

There is two steps to the microderm abrasion, refine and replenish. I use it twice a week and I can see a noticeable difference in my skin texture and tone. The best thing about these products is that it last. A little goes a long way. Depending on the number of times you use it daily, this set can last from 2-3 months. Trust me, this is money well spent.

Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Shower and Body Cream

Talk about silky smooth skin all over, this duo is like heaven in a bottle. The package states that the products have milk proteins, rice bran oil and fruit extracts. I am not sure of all of the ingredients but I do know that after one use, your skin feels good all day long. Most importantly, it doesn’t make you feel greasy. There’s a variety of scents to choose from. My favorite is Japanese Cherry Blossom and I really like Sweat Pea. Check it out. Chose your favorite; I promise you that whatever one you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Vitamin Shoppe Extra virgin Coconut Oil

A saturated fat with long shelf life and a meting point of 76 degrees, coconut oil use to be a favorite in the baking industry. A campaign against unhealthy fat stunted its popularity and food manufactures abandon the oil, replacing it with hydronated polysaturated oils. Coconut oil is making a comeback as studies suggest that although it is saturated, it does have healthy properties that our diets can benefit from. I have used it to saute vegetables and it was okay. It has a unique flavor. However I later found other uses for the oil and now I am hooked.

Instead of cooking with the oil, I have found it to be extremely good for my skin and hair. After doing some research on the oil (for cooking purposes), I learned that it has a burning point of 360 degrees. I starting using it on my hair before using the flat-iron and it protect my hair from the heat. Not to mention it also leave a shin that is unbelievable. I also use it as a hot oil treatment once a month and mix it with my conditioner on a weekly basis. It really does leaves my hair feeling light (not weighted down) and healthy. If you have dry patches on your skin, dab some on there as well. I use it after shaving my legs and it leaves them looking brand new for days. Best of all, you don’t have to use a lot. A dab will do it.

Nature Made B-Complex with Vitamin C

B-Complex is a family of vitamins that helps convert food into energy. The addition of vitamin C helps the body absorb iron and improve the immune system. Other noted benefit claims of the B-complex is that it increases the rate of metabolism, maintain healthy skin and muscle tone, promote cell growth and reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer. I am not sure about all of those but I can attest to the energy part. I try to take a B-complex each day and I can feel the difference when I skip a day. Nature Made B-Complex makes me feel more alert and less stressed throughout the day.

If you are not fond of supplements, B-vitamins can be found in whole unprocessed foods. Processed carbohydrates have less of these energy promoting vitamins. This may seem strange to some since carbs are known for providing energy but processed carbs have been stripped of its nutritional value and is pumped up with sugar. So if you chose not to take the supplement, make sure that you get plenty of B-vitamin rich foods such as whole grains, turkey, tuna, bananas, lentils, chili peppers and beans.
